Our Story
Serendipity Bookshop is a woman-owned, LGBTQ+-owned independent bookstore built on the belief that books create connection, build community, and that everyone deserves a place where they feel welcome.
We offer a thoughtfully curated selection of new and used books across all genres, for readers of every age and every interest. From fiction and nonfiction to romance, fantasy, mystery, history, poetry, and everything in between, our shelves are designed for browsing and discovery. Whether you’re searching for your next great read, a last-minute gift, or something you didn’t know you needed until it found you, Serendipity has a way of showing up here. And if we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’re always happy to order it for you.
More than a bookstore, Serendipity is a cozy community space. We host book clubs, author signings, readings, and special events, creating opportunities for readers to gather, share stories, and connect. Whether you’re a lifelong book lover or just getting back into reading, there’s a seat for you here.
In addition to our books, we carry carefully selected merchandise to enhance the reading experience from cozy essentials like candles, journals, pens, and mugs to thoughtful gifts that pair perfectly with a good book and a quiet afternoon.

Hi, I’m Donna, owner of Serendipity Bookshop, an independent bookstore in downtown Taunton, Massachusetts. My wife, Shannon, and I opened our woman-owned, LGBTQ+-owned shop to create a welcoming space where books and community come together.
